Since the Dynasty reboot started, Fallon has been conveniently married (Jeff) and fake married (Liam) and now she is attempting to get married for realsies this time to Michael Culhane. But we all really want to see her with Liam, right? And while she’s planning her nuptials, there could be trouble brewing for Sam and the still MIA Steven.
This episode was all about Fallon planning her wedding … and even including Alexis. But there was a catch — Blake persuaded her to also include New Cristal since he’s popped the question to her. And what better way for the three women to bond than over wedding dress selection. Except Alexis isn’t interested in sharing any of this with Cristal and goes out of her way to criticize every dress Cristal claps for. Fallon was getting tired of the whole thing but suggested Cristal also try a dress, which meant Alexis had to as well … even though she’s not getting married any time soon. But, you know, it’s always good to have one handy just in case.
Then it came to finding the right venue. Fallon wanted the place where her grandmother was married but it was unavailable due to someone else’s wedding, an Atlanta socialite on her fifth husband. Surely she can easily be talked out of the date. Luckily Alexis knows the woman, Mimi Rose Prescott (Joanna Going), and insists that she can work her magic to get the venue for Fallon. But Mimi isn’t going down without a fight, and Fallon decides the easiest way to get the venue is to … get the venue, i.e. buy the place and kick Mimi out. But that puts a crimp in Alexis’ plan to ‘help’ her daughter … by also securing a place for herself in the Peachtree society she so desperatly yearns to be a part of again. Living in a mobile home does not afford one the opportunity to hobnob with Atlanta’s elite.
Of course Fallon gets wind of the whole thing, decides she will buy the venue after all just to spite Alexis, and goes that extra inch by disinviting her from the wedding. Well, what is Alexis to do but continue to work on Mimi to get back in Fallon’s good graces? Problem is, Mimi’s not having it, she’s not changing her date and Alexis is in serious danger of not getting into the society. An unfortunate ‘accident’ then occurs when Alexis backs into Mimi, injuring the woman enough that she can’t go on with her wedding date as planned. Problem solved. And Alexis gets to play up her own ‘injuries’ by wearing a neck collar for all to see. Her moves on behalf of her daughter at the risk of her own personal gain was enough to get her re-invited to the wedding. See, Alexis might actually have a soul after all.
Of course there was also the issue of the mysterious baby, dubbed Little Blake, that Sam has taken under his wing. There’s also the complication of Manuel the new manny (and a pretty good ‘Manny the manny?’ joke) who seems to be coming on to both Sam and Kirby. But he has a way with Little Blake, helpfully removing his shirt to explain how skin-on-skin contact always settles the child. Except Little Blake was fully clothed and no one seemed to notice, although he did shut up. Later, Manuel took advantage of the swimming pool, showing off all his goodies to Sam, and then Sam even followed him back to his room where he admitted he thinks about Manuel a lot, both with his pants on and off. Manny — and everyone else — can sense the heat between them and moves in for a kiss … but Sam rebuffs him, telling him that his heart belongs to Steven and, sadly, he’s going to have to let Manuel go. Surprisingly, even Kirby supported this decision, advising Sam earlier to ‘keep your pants zipped.’ But the question remains — is Steven actually coming home for Christmas? There’s only one episode before the holida break and it seems unlikely considering Steven’s been dodging all of Sam’s phone calls, forcing him to look through their wedding album without his husband.
But perusing the photos revealed an uninvited guest at the wedding — crazy Claudia. Which made same realize that’s whose baby he’s raising and forcing a confrontation with Alexis who had to admit that Hank took the baby and left him on her doorstep but she never put together that the Claudia mentioned in his note was the Claudia that tried to kill them all at the wedding. Really, Alexis? How many cuckoo Claudia’s do you know? Sam agrees, for now, to keep all of this from Blake and everyone else, but Claudia knows her baby is gone and it’s only a matter of time before she shows up at the Carrington Manor.
In other plot developments, Blake bought Cristal a soccer team as an engagement gift to make her feel at home … and also to be a new Carrington business. And Michael was nearly nabbed at the border (which border is a bit sketchy) hauling ‘antiques’ for Ada, but he successfully played the ‘Black card’ when he pitched a fit that the three drivers ahead of him did not get stopped. The guard didn’t want any trouble and let Michael and his passenger pass, and lucky for him because Ada’s henchman was about to plug the guy. Ada was impressed by Michael’s quick thinking, but the other guy wasn’t happy about almost going to jail for her and pulled his gun again. Michael seemed to be on the same page as the guy but he turned the tables and subdued the man, winning over Ada even more. So much so that she gave him all the blackmail info she had on Fallon and Jeff Colby, and told Michael he was free of her employ. Or … he could stay on and make a whole lot more money in addition to what he just raked in. It took him a hot second to say yes, and Fallon reaped the benefits of his newfound success and confidence, in several positions.
