A very slim week for series premieres as networks are generally concluding their current seasons. Only one major broadcast network had a new series premiere in 2015, and this was more of a special event than a regular series. A smaller network — soon to merge with another — tried out a new scripted series this week in 2005, and two cable channels rolled out reality shows in 2015. Check out the four new series that premiered this week in just two decades and tell us if you remember any of them.

  • May 22 – The Hustlers (TruTV, One season, 10 episodes)
  • May 22 – American Diner Revival (Food Network, Two seasons, 20 episodes)

Season 1 of 500 Questions was hosted by CNN journalist Richard Quest, Season 2 was hosted by Nightline anchor Dan Harris. Season 1’s seven episodes aired over the course of seven weeknights, with a weekend break. Season 2’s five episodes aired over a seven-night period. While the goal was for a contestant to survive 500 questions, it was never revealed what would happen if they did. No contestant ever made it to 500 questions. Jeopardy! champ Ken Jennings appeared on the Season 2 premiere and was eliminated after four questions. Guy Jordan ended the series with 241 questions and $169,000 in winnings.

The Hustlers was a reality series featuring a group of pool players as they try to advance up the rankings in their pool hall. American Diner Revival was a diner makeover reality show starring Ty Pennington and Amanda Freitag.
