- Trivia: The series began development under the title Strut, with production on a pilot set for the Fall of 2010. In September 2011, the series was retooled by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls) with ABC looking for its own answer to Glee. Sherman-Palladino suggested going with the world of ballet instead and a new pilot was ordered under the title Bunheads. Sutton Foster’s brother Hunter played her character’s brother on the show. Every episode featured a guest star who had previously appeared on Gilmore Girls. Kelly Bishop is only twelve years older than Alan Ruck, who plays her son.
