Adult Swim

It was not a good week for two of the three shows that premiered in 2001 and 2011. One show lasted 13 episodes, and another had six but only aired four episodes. Another went for more than 500 episodes over the course of three years. But do you remember any of them?

May 26 – Sail Away

  • Synopsis: Children’s reality television series which follows ten teenagers sailing aboard the Simpatico off the Bahamas with assistance from their leader Nicolas Popov and Dragan Popov.
  • Network: Discovery Kids
  • Broadcast History: One season, 13 episodes, last broadcast on July 7, 2001

May 28 – CMT Most Wanted Live

  • Hosts: Lance Smith (2001), Amber Mogg (2001), Katie Cook (2002-2004), Greg Martin (2002), Cledus T. Judd (2002-2004)
  • Synopsis: Country music video countdown show.
  • Network: CMT
  • Broadcast History: Three seasons, over 500 episodes, last broadcast on April 3, 2004
  • Trivia: Spin-off of MTV’s Total Request Live. The show originally aired live from the lobby of the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee, but was moved to the Gibson Bluegrass Showcase at Opry Mills Mall on January 5, 2002. The show went from a six-day-a-week schedule to a single Saturday episode a week in 2003, and moved locations again to the Wildhorse Saloon. The show spun off MWL Star and MWL Stacked.

2011

May 24 – Soul Quest Overdrive

  • Cast: H. Jon Benjamin, David Cross, Kristen Schaal, Gavin McInnes
  • Guest Cast: S. Scott Bullock
  • Synopsis: The series is about the misadventures of four anthropomorphic pieces of sports equipment: Mick, Mortimer, Bert, and Tammy, who live together in a mobile home. Despite being Evangelical Christians, they are also hedonistic drug addicts prone to extremely impulsive and destructive behavior.
  • Network: Adult Swim
  • Broadcast History: One season, six episodes, (2 unaired + unaired pilot), last broadcast on May 24, 2011
  • Trivia: Spin-off of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The characters were introduced on the Season 5 episode ‘Bible Fruit’ as anthropomorphic fruit (except for the character of Mick). They were changed to sports equipment for the spin-off series.
