With the success of Celebrity Family Feud and BattleBots, ABC is looking to resurrect another classic game show, To Tell The Truth. The network has tapped Anthony Anderson to host, with panelists including Betty White and NeNe Leakes. Two more panelists are to be announced.
The format will follow that of the classic show with three people who claim to be the same person. One is sworn to tell the truth while the others are not. The panelists ask questions to try to discern who is telling the truth before casting their votes.
Anderson’s mother Doris will be the show’s official scorekeeper and will get to ask questions of her own. The panelist who performs the worst each week will have to tweet a lie about themselves. Cheche and his Band of Liars will be the house band and each episode will end with a showstopping stunt or performance.
The original To Tell The Truth ran on CBS for more than 20 seasons before moving to syndication and various revivals over the years. The last revivial was hosted by John O’Hurley in 2000 and ran for two seasons.
