Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show took to the stage in London for a limited run in September in preparation for a European tour to commence in December. But on September 17, a special benefit performance was held to benefit Amnesty International.
The special performance featured several guest stars sharing the role of The Narrator (aka The Criminologist as he’s known in the movie verssion) including Stephen Fry, Spice Girl Emma Bunton, The Great British Bake Off host Mel Giedroy and … Riff Raff himself, Richard O’Brien, making his first stage appearance in the U.K. in over ten years.
That special event was broadcast in cinemas across the U.K. and Europe, and now Rocky Horror fans in the U.S. will have a chance to see this production courtesy of BBC America. The show will air, appropriately, at midnight October 18 in the U.S. and will be broadcast in Australia and New Zealand as well.
Other special guests sharing Narrator duties include Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Adrian Edmondson (The Young Ones). The show will be rebroadcast on BBC America on October 31 to conclude a full day of Doctor Who reruns.
