It was very slim pickings for the last full week of July through the decades with just two new series premiering on cable networks. And while one of the shows ran for six seasons, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who actually remembers it, but it did have some impressive cast members. Let’s see if you remember either of these shows.

1999
- July 26 — Anthology series Undressed debuts on MTV. Created by British director Roland Joffé, the series followed the relationships of high schoolers, college students, and twentysomethings in the Los Angeles area. The series courted controversy with its frank discussions of sex, including depictions or promiscuous behavior and same-sex relationships. Each season had recurring characters with episodes focusing on two or three specific plotlines. Each season, some stories would end while others would continue to the next season. The series is notable for early performances from actors who went on to greater things. Cast members included: (Season 1) Marc Blucas, Christina Hendricks, Thad Luckinbill, Bree Turner; (Season 2) Jay Hernandez, Chad Michael Murray, Katee Sackhoff; (Season 3) Adam Brody, Max Greenfield, Bret Harrison, Jason Ritter, Brandon Routh, Lauren German; (Season 4) Brandon Beemer, Sarah Jane Morris; (Season 5) Katie Aselton, Scott Clifton, Autumn Reeser, Adrienne Wilkinson; (Season 6) Rachelle Lefevre, Michael Urie. The series was filmed in Los Angeles for the first five seasons and moved to Montreal for the sixth and final season. Episodes briefly ran on Logo in January 2010. In November 2018, MTV said a reboot of the series was in the works but that has yet to materialize. The series aired six seasons between its 1999 debut and 2002 conclusion with the last of its 222 episodes airing on September 5. Seasons 1-3 consisted of 30 episodes each, Seasons 4-5 had 40 each and Season 6 had 52.
2009
- July 21 — Comedy series Roby & the Rockits premieres on ABC Family. Created by Shaun Cassidy, the series follows Patrick Gallagher, a former teen idol, who has left the spotlight behind to focus on his quiet life with wife Audie, an ex-1980s music video dancer), and two sons. When brother and former Rockits bandmate David shows up with his newfound teen daughter, the family’s life is turned upside-down. The series was a family affair with Ryan Cassidy working behind the scenes and Patrick Cassidy starring as Patrick Gallagher with David Cassidy as brother David. The series also featured Alexa Vega, Katie Keane, Austin Butler and Kurt Doss. The premiere was seen by 1.6 million viewers, but ratings declined and the series ended after its single 10-episode season on September 22.
