OMG OMG OMG. Don’t even know where to start with this one. Except maybe on the really bad editing team who got flawless captures of old footage of George, Lexi, Ellis, and Doc. BUT DID A HACK JOB ON DEREK. (And also Sloan for some weird reason.)
So that moment at the end was really beautiful – the minute George rounded the corner (didn’t even care that he was all faded and blurry from an older episode clip – it made him look ghostly) my heart just stopped. Largely because it skipped several beats and went – OMG WE’RE GONNA GET MCDREAMY. And it was really truly lovely seeing all those people – George, Lexi, Ellis, and then Derek. And for some awkward tag-along reason, Sloan. That was just weird. (Like we don’t want to leave him out but seriously? To pop him right there next to Derek after Derek looked all janky and poorly Photoshopped!? DO BETTER SHONDA.)
Sloppy editing aside, it was a really delightful touch. Really sweet, sentimental, and an appropriate way to summarize the holiday experience for those less familiar.
LOVE that we got some Halloween action too. Bailey going all Frankenstein and reanimating the liver was delightful. TUCK is so grown up now! Insanity! And is it bad that for like two seconds I was like ‘OMG SOFIA – wait … she lives in New York with her mommies again …’ because that random child who was all face-painted up with Zola was too cute for words.
Technically – Teddy did actually say, ‘And I’m pregnant with your child, Owen.’ She just happened to be alone in the room when she said it aloud. Ah well. Next week. Or winter break. She can’t hide it for too much longer. Unless the crash-baby delivery they’re previewing for next week is Teddy – which it probably isn’t, they just want us to think that – in which case she won’t be able to hide it at all.
The dynamic with Betty and Amelia and Teddy and Owen and Leo. It’s all being handled extremely well except for the Teddy not speaking up about her unborn child thing. But the way they’ve put Amelia overreacting because of her own previous addiction? On point. Really touching, albeit tragic, to see Richard at Ollie’s grave.
When Mer opted for the stairs over being stuck in the elevator with DeLuca and Link did anyone else fondly remember that time she tried dating Finn and Derek at the same time? It’s like we recycle plotlines around here …
LOVED that rando nurse who called Jo & Alex out for making out in his office. (Still can’t wrap my head around calling her Dr. Karev.) And I’m glad that he chose the ‘we’re fighting but also hot and newly married’ approach as her reprimand. He did WAY worse all throughout his career in regards to doing things that were against what the chief said.
And now the elephant in the room. HOW COULD HE BLOW GLASSES OFF LIKE THAT? And is this the end of Dr. Kim? The whole ‘new to ortho, was focusing on general’ was smacking hard of overkill, a nice parallel the first time it was mentioned but by the time we got to the elevator – OVER IT. Pleased to see the progressive nature of television, finally catching up with the rest of the world. And let’s face it – we were all waiting for that smoking hot kiss! (And at Grey-Sloan, we all know – thanks to Addison pointing it out when she went over to Private Practice – that elevators are like some sort of strange aphrodisiac in Seattle.)
But his rejection, ‘You’re my type but I can’t teach you how to come out …’ that was just harsh, true as it may be. And that whole ‘Thought this was a teaching hospital …’, THAT was just tacky, though also a true-ringing statement. Fingers crossed something other than hot elevator kisses comes of this.
Jaggie … blaaaaaaah. Either let him back in or push him all the way out already. Clearly Meredith needs yet another man to line up around the block for her, alongside Link and DeLuca. And I wanna see Thatcher back. His story wasn’t closed, so I think she should go and close him out. Though it doesn’t look like that’ll be happening next week. Really cute the way Link did his own hair (which will never be as gorgeous as McDreamy’s) for that kid with cancer.
Here’s hoping that sometime BEFORE winter break that we get the Teddy-baby situation at least brought to Owen’s attention and that Richard goes to a meeting.
